From Saul to Paul - A miraculous change
And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high
priest, and desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether
they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
And as he journeyed he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
and he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul why persecutest
me?
And he said Who art thou, Lord? and the Lord said I AM Jesus whom thou persecutest:
it is hard for thee to kick against the goads".
Sometimes people don't realise how hurtful they can be to others, and it often takes a similar experience for the
lesson to be learned.
The Bible shows us that we are all sinners before God and that we need the cleansing of the blood of Jesus to
save us from the penalty of sin.
You may think that you are okay as you are, but God's Word makes it clear that we all fall short of His Glory and
that there is none good; no not one!
No one, that is except Jesus Himself, who paid the price for the sin of the whole world.
The Lord had to show Saul, a very religious man of his day, the error in persecuting those who followed Jesus.
Saul was brought down low in the presence of the Lord, realised his sin and repented of all his wrongdoing.
As God performed that miraculous change in Saul he also changed his name to Paul. He was showing that the
old nature was gone forever!
The Bible declares of those who repent, that God will forgive them, and their sin will be cast into the depths of the
sea, to be remembered no more!
God is still willing to make that miraculous change in you! Will you let Him?
