First-Time Visit?... What to Expect!
Entering a new place or environment for the first time can be a bit intimidating. If you're coming to The Church at Gun
Hill for the first time, we want to assure you that you will be given a warm welcome. The following is a guide to help you
and to give you a rough idea of what to expect:
-
Parking
After 6pm on weekdays and at any time on Saturday and Sunday, you may park in Church Road, just off the mini roundabout next
to the church. In the event of any difficulty in parking in Church Road, we may also park in the approach road to Ilfracombe
Avenue directly opposite the Gun Pub at the top of the hill. Look at our Local Map!
-
Sunday morning
You will find our church meetings fairly informal but that does not affect our genuine desire to give God all the honour. The
service begins at 11.00am with Praise and Worship. The words to the hymns and songs we sing are projected on to a screen; you
don't have to worry about finding your way through a hymn book.
-
Children
Families are very welcome. We encourage children of nursery and primary school age to be together with us at the start and usually,
there will be at least one children's song which we all sing before the children go through to their own area for activities which
are suitable for them. All of our workers who are involved in the children's work have been DBS checked at enhanced level in
accordance with our Safeguarding Policy, which is available for inspection upon request.
-
Communion
During our Sunday morning worship we do have "breaking of bread", other wise known as "communion". This is open to all who
know the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
-
The Message
At some stage during the service, usually (but not always) after the "Breaking of Bread", there will be a message based on the
Bible. You can listen to one or two recent messages elsewhere on this website.
-
Opportunity to Receive Prayer
At some stage in the meeting, usually towards the end, there is always the opportunity for people to come forward
for prayer. Whatever the need - sickness, worry, uncertainty, problems - we have found that Jesus is the answer and that
prayer changes things.
-
Collections
No! We do not take up collections and we do NOT expect visitors to feel obliged to give. For regular attenders there is an
offering box at the back of the church.
